ParticipantSteering wheel wobble at 80kph and a weird floaty feeling on the highway, is this just a tyre balance thing or something deeper?
I’ve got a 2018 Pajero that I’ve been driving for about two years now and it’s been pretty bulletproof honestly but over the last month or so I’ve started picking up this vibration through the steering wheel that comes in right around 80 to 90 kilometers an hour and then kind of smooths out a bit after that, and at the same time the whole truck feels like it’s wallowing over dips on the E311 in a way that I don’t remember it doing before, almost like it takes an extra second to settle after a bump and the rear end feels a bit disconnected from the front. I had the tyres balanced at a little shop in Satwa because I figured that was the obvious culprit and it helped for about three days before the shimmy came right back, and now I’m starting to wonder if I’m actually looking at the early signs of worn 4×4 suspension system instead of just a simple tyre issue, especially with the way the nose dives forward when I brake for the lights near City Walk. A friend of mine who’s had a few off roaders over the years said it might be the control arm bushings or even the steering rack mounts getting sloppy from all the heat cycles and the weight of the vehicle, and he sent me over to that thedubaiweb site to have a read through what typical SUV issues look like in this part of the world. I guess I’m just trying to figure out if I should start budgeting for a proper suspension refresh before the weather cools down and everyone floods the garages for the same reason.
